This renovation in Madrid regroups in a single space different small rooms to convert the kitchen and entrance in a central element in the house, which separates clearly the social area from the rest of the apartment. The opening of this new central space allows cross ventila- tion, providing light to a space previously in constant darkness and also enjoy the views of the facade from a much greater distance. This central space also differs in terms of materiality, being the only area in neutral tones, using a much darker tone in the rest of the rooms. The bedrooms overlook the courtyard and embrace this darkness, generating intimate but at the same time voluminous spaces, achieved by eliminating the old false ceilings. Finally, the front area overlooking the street is maintained as the main living space, maximizing ceiling height and resolving in a single front the air conditioning, heating and fireplace.
